Thank you for your interest in Mandalion Designs!
Mandalion Designs and Flower Farm is happy to be supplying Marin and Sonoma County locals with beautiful blooms. In 2015, after working with Big Mesa Farm in Bolinas for a few seasons, I had the life changing opportunity of trying my hand at growing flowers from seed. Being in the event and retail floral worlds for 15+ years then being presented with this chance to grow my own-let's just say it was love at first bloom. Mandalion was created to provide the community I worked with for so many years, with pesticide free, speciality stems that were not readily availble at the current local flower suppliers. The flower growers scene has increased a lot over the years, but I have kept my designer eye out for new cuts every season. It's not easy. It's not always fun. There is stress, exhaustion, disappointment and a whole lot of learning, but I wouldn't have it any other way. All the hard work is very rewarding and spending my days tending to this field is more fulfilling than anything I have ever done. I provide a wide variety of heirlooms and speciality blooms, May through first frost. Focused on wholesale, supplying local florist and markets with sustainably grown speciality flowers. I am also available to provide arrangements for restaurants, life’s occasions and small parties. Mandalion Designs will no longer be providing direct wedding florals due to focusing on supplying beautiful blooms to the local designers and retail business in the area. Please see ‘friends of the farm’ for folks who can help you with planning your wedding floral needs.
I started in the floral industry actually by chance. Working in a holiday production warehouse in 2000, I picked up the basics of floral designs and started to find my groove. Working with some of the best over the years, I absorbed and learned all aspects of the floral industry in the Bay Area. The next step I have taken on in this floral journey, is the great task of growing my own garden to pull inspirations from. Like a chef orchestrating a delicious menu for the season, I choose seeds to plant and grow and then snip for you and yours. Heirloom blossoms are making a come back, and I'm excited to be providing pollen for our pollinators and flowers for the people. In the fields you can smell the sweetness and see the curious shapes and colors that nature creates. Farm fresh designs are custom and hand picked hours before they are made.
By switching gears towards the wholesale side of growing speciality fresh cut flowers, the 2017 season moved me to a piece of land in Petaluma at Tara Firma Farm. Fast forward a few years (a drought, pandemic, various heat waves, etc.) and here we are starting into the 2025 season! The fields are now an epic bio-diverse half acre botanical haven that supports so many types of creatures. I have been planting more perennials and focusing on annuals that do well with our extremely hot, dry summers. Natives and medicinal plants are always being added as well. The fields are a production garden, as well as an ever evolving immersive floral design. There is a lot of love and time sown into this work, farming in climate change is no joke! The diverse and chaotic field of Mandalion is home to many pollinators, birds, bugs and plants. Mono-cropping is boring. So are perfectly manicured beds. The fields are opening during workshops for you to explore.
Born and raised in beautiful Marin County, my love for nature was ignited at a young age. Respect of land conservation prompted me to volunteer with the Audubon Society, SF Botanical Gardens and work with native plant restoration projects with the Point Reyes National Seashore. Being introduced to the world of being a grower has changed my life. The appreciation I have for locally grown and seasonal goods is nurtured in this part of the world, and for that, I'm thankful. Being a part of the local flower movement is an important job. Im passionate about bringing awareness to the importance of respecting the seasonality of flowers and the impact that chemically treated blooms have on our planet. I hope that my small part can help with the big picture.
Thank you for choosing sustainably grown flowers and have a beautiful day!
